Kick-off the wedding celebration with rehearsal dinner

The rehearsal dinner is held after the ceremony rehearsal as a "thank you" to all those who participate in your wedding.
Typically the wedding rehearsal and accompanying dinner are scheduled for the evening before the wedding with the parents of the groom hosting the rehearsal dinner. With many modern couples delaying marriage due to career and other demands, today's bride and groom often throw this party themselves.
Social customs dictate specific moments during the rehearsal dinner that structure the evening's events. First a blessing and best wishes are offered to the bride and groom by the officiant.
Then the party's hosts say a few words to welcome the rehearsal dinner guests. The host or hostess then offers the first official toast to the bride and groom.
The hosts' remarks are followed by toasts from the other guests. Parents, best man and matron, as well as anyone who will not have time to speak at the wedding, can offer kind words, fond memories and best wishes as they toast the couple's health and happiness.
At the conclusion of the festivities, the bride and groom usually offer a few words of thanks to all the wedding party participants to round out the evening. The happy couple distributes tokens of appreciation to the members of the wedding party, both sets of parents, and anyone else who played an important role in planning the wedding.
